Dean Evans & Associates Announces Donation and Educational Partnership with
The Metropolitan State College of Denver
DENVER -- Dean Evans & Associates (www.dea.com)
today announced an educational partnership with the Department of Hospitality, Meeting,
Travel and Administration (HMTA) at The Metropolitan State College of Denver, the
largest public undergraduate college in the nation. Under terms of the agreement,
DEA will donate its Event Management Software (EMS) to the department with no fees
or restrictions, as long as the software is used for educational purposes.
“The department reaps a huge benefit from such high-end software,” says Cynthia
Vannucci, director of meeting administration within HMTA. “Our students, many of
whom are working professionals, will gain valuable experience and access to leading
edge software technology for meeting planning.”
Dean Evans & Associates’ line of EMS software products will be incorporated
into the curriculum of several meeting administration courses starting with the
fall 2002 semester. The department’s use of the software includes access to Dean
Evans & Associates software updates as well as training and support as needed.
“It’s good for the college, the students and for Dean Evans & Associates,” says
Kevin Raasch, executive vice president of Dean Evans & Associates. “Metro State
students will gain access to leading edge software technology for meeting planning,
and our company will benefit from a greater awareness of our EMS products."
The value of the donation to The Metropolitan State College is valued at approximately
$150,000 dollars for the products. In addition to the value of the donation, the
college will receive Dean Evans & Associates’ extensive training and support
services.
EMS software streamlines room scheduling and event management operations for a wide
variety of facilities, including conference centers, schools and universities, corporate
meeting and hoteling facilities, convention centers, government offices, associations,
churches, healthcare facilities, performing arts centers, arenas, parks and recreation
departments, and a variety of special event centers. The software eliminates double
booking and can schedule services, manage inventory and handle the billing for every
detail. Enterprise and campus-wide organizations can also choose from Web-based
modules and options for online booking of meeting space and meeting-related services.
The Metropolitan State College offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in an area of emphasis
in Hotel, Restaurant, Meeting, or Travel Administration. The college reports that
more than 88% of all students currently enrolled in HMTA work in the hospitality
industry while attending classes. Over the past eight years, 100 percent of HMTA
graduates have secured jobs in the hospitality industry upon graduation.
