Dean Evans & Associates Rolls Out Innovative Calendaring Product
EMS Master Calendar provides secure, globally accessible source of event information
for higher education campuses and other entities
DENVER -- Dean Evans & Associates (www.dea.com)
today announced the release of its new EMS Master Calendar™ product. While it can
pull event data from their EMS (Event Management System) facility scheduling tools
and other databases by way of an optional connector module, the Master Calendar
is a stand-alone, Web-based system designed to be an organization’s primary online
source of event information. Users can view the events from one calendar, multiple
combined calendars, or all calendars. They can also download specific events to
their personal calendars and request that emailed reminders automatically be sent
to them prior to events.
“On campuses, in communities and in other large organizations, event information
tends to be disseminated in a dizzying variety of ways,” says Kevin Raasch, executive
vice president of Dean Evans & Associates. “Everything from multiple, disjointed
online calendars to printed documents to email. The EMS Master Calendar gives event
organizers and the community a convenient and effective forum for the exchange of
information.”
Not only can the system be used to display event information, it can, depending
on how security has been defined, be used by Web site visitors to view private calendars,
submit event requests or even post events directly to a calendar. “The ability to
set calendar-specific permissions ensures that the process for posting and maintaining
events is both simple and secure,” says Raasch. “What’s more,” he adds, “distributing
the management of group or department calendars lightens the workload on site administrators
and communications staff.”
A high degree of customization can be performed from within the Master Calendar
system for organizations that wish to “brand” the product to match their Web site.
System colors can be pulled from style sheets or chosen within the software. Calendar
defaults (format, maximum number of events displayed, etc.) can be modified easily
by site administrators. Page labels, system messages and help text can all be edited.
People submitting events can supply additional information, such as registration
guidelines and admission fees using built-in custom fields.
In addition to displaying events, the Master Calendar system can display links to
other calendars and Internet sites, thereby serving as a focal point for all of
an organization’s event-related communications and enhancing the sense of community.
Other calendars and sites can link back to the Master Calendar system using URLs
that can be generated by the system.
