Major Technology Shift for EMS Professional 9.0 Facility and Resource Scheduling Software

Dean Evans & Associates utilizes new development platform to give EMS increased speed and functionality

DENVER -- Dean Evans & Associates (www.dea.com) today announced the release of EMS Professional Version 9.0 and its add-on Web-based event viewing and requesting module, Virtual EMS. EMS (Event Management System) products are used throughout the U.S. and abroad by higher education campuses, corporations, hospitals, churches, school districts and other organizations to manage the scheduling of rooms, resources and services, and also to enable the publishing of event-related information to the Internet.

“Back in April we released a new version of our EMS Enterprise product, which was completely rewritten using the Microsoft® .NET development platform,” says Kevin Raasch, executive vice president of Dean Evans & Associates. “The response from our customers to the increased speed and functionality was overwhelmingly positive. Now we’ve done the same type of rewrite for EMS Professional, and we’re confident that our Professional customers will be equally pleased.”

New or enhanced features in EMS Professional Version 9.0 include a new, multi-function Browser search tool that replaces a number of independent browsers, a streamlined Reservation Wizard process and a powerful tool for writing ad-hoc queries and simple custom reports called the Query Builder. “If I had to characterize the changes in functionality in Version 9.0, I’d say that the system and its process are more efficient and more intuitive than ever before,” says Raasch.

Virtual EMS, the Internet-based add-on component that allows Web site visitors to see a calendar of scheduled events, search for available space or submit an event request, has also been enhanced. One of the enhancements is the availability of a Generate Custom Link function with which you can create a link that can be emailed, embedded in a document, displayed on a Web site, etc. When a reader clicks the link, they are taken to a specific calendar or list of events (a “custom events” page) that has already been filtered by building, event type, group, status, room or group type as dictated by the link. Other modifications include a password reminder function, an improved Browse Events tool and enhanced application security through the encryption of session state IDs and query string parameters.
