Record-Setting Sales for EMS in December 2004

Dean Evans & Associates' Event Management System line of facility and resource scheduling solutions has its strongest month ever

DENVER -- Dean Evans & Associates (www.dea.com) today announced that sales of its EMS (event management system) product line for December were higher than any month in the company’s 18-year history. More than 50,000 user licenses, comprising nearly four dozen copies of the company’s EMS Lite, EMS Professional and EMS Enterprise products, were purchased in a month shortened for most businesses by holidays and vacations. For the year, the company’s sales were up 11 percent.

“We had a strong December and fourth quarter not only because we added a number of new clients, but also because many of our existing customers upgraded their EMS systems,” says Sean Mulvey, director of sales for Dean Evans & Associates. “We feel fortunate to have a client base that is very loyal and a product that is powerful and flexible enough to serve their widely varying needs.”

EMS systems are used to manage the many tasks required to host meetings and events, including the recording of a customer’s initial inquiry and contact information, the booking of space, resources and services, the posting of event information to the Internet, and the generation and tracking of invoices. The flexibility of the many versions of EMS allows it to be used in virtually any type of facility, large or small.

“The ironic thing about our good results for December and for the entire year is that we actually decreased our marketing budget slightly from 2003 to 2004,” says Kevin Raasch, executive vice president of Dean Evans & Associates. “We think that that points to hard work by our sales staff and to satisfied customers who spread the word about EMS to their colleagues in the scheduling industry.”

The company hopes to build on its strong finish in 2004 with the shipping of major new releases of all of its scheduling and calendaring products in the first or second quarter of 2005. “The coming months look very promising from a sales perspective,” says Mulvey. “Our development team has done an excellent job of listening to our customers as they’ve crafted the new releases. I think EMS users and prospective customers will be very pleased with the enhanced functionality in all of our products.”
